Bills
A bill tracker that feeds the budget
Bills are the expenses you pay again and again on a date. Moneva's bill tracker keeps each one once, with what it is for, the amount and how it repeats, reminds you before it is due and plans it into every budget whose period it falls in, so the month is never surprised by the rent.
- Monthly, weekly, every 3 months or yearly
- Reminders before the due date
- One planned entry per occurrence
One bill, every period
A bill has a name (House rent, Electricity, School fees), an amount, a category and a schedule: monthly or every three months on a day from 1 to 31, weekly on a weekday, or yearly on a date. Short months are clamped, so a bill due on the 31st falls on the 30th of April. Starts says when the first occurrence is due, Ends is optional, and Remind me defaults to three days before. A bill belongs to the space, not to one budget, which is why the same rent can be attached to every month.
Pausing a bill stops new occurrences until you resume it; ending a bill keeps everything already planned and recorded. Nothing is deleted.
The Bills page
Bills are grouped as Overdue, Due this month, Later and Paused, each with a status word that follows the payments: Due 5 Nov, Next 5 Dec, Overdue · 5 Oct, Paid · 5 Nov. High-priority bills rise first inside each group. The schedule reads in words — Monthly on the 5th, Every Saturday, Every 3 months on the 1st, Yearly on 15 Jan — so nobody has to decode a cron line.
Attached to the budget, paid from it
The attach step of a budget lists the bills whose occurrences fall in its period and creates one planned entry per occurrence, with the due date, the bill's amount and its name; attaching twice never duplicates an entry. The entry then behaves like any planned expense: you allocate money to it when it is set aside and record the payment when you pay, and it reads Not paid, Partially paid or Fully paid. Home shows what is due soon with the same line: paid of allocated, still to pay.
- Rent, Mutuelle, internet, school fees: once each, then attached
- Part payments add up; the bill reads Paid when the entry is fully paid
- A bill named Rice lands on the rice catalogue item by itself
Reminders to the right person
Reminders arrive the number of days before the due date you chose, in the app and, if you turned them on, by email or push notification. In a household the member responsible for a line receives the nudge for it; approvers receive a digest of what waits for them. Nobody is nagged about someone else's bill.

Questions
Questions people ask
Can a bill repeat every term or every quarter?
Yes. Choose Every 3 months and a due day; school fees paid per term or a quarterly insurance premium fit that schedule. Yearly bills take a date.
Does Moneva pay the bill for me?
No. Moneva plans and reminds; you pay by cash, mobile money, bank transfer or card and record the payment, with a receipt if you want one.
What if I pay a bill in two parts?
Record two payments on the same entry. It reads Partially paid after the first and Fully paid after the second; the bill's status follows.
Can other members see my bills?
In a shared space, members who may view all transactions see every bill; other members see the bills they added. Personal spaces are private.
